If you’re not hip to what’s ice hot right now, you must be feelin’ pretty out of the jib for not knowing what MassivelyOwned is. It’s a wicked youtube channel that’s part of a new campaign designed to target cyber bullying.

So far, the videos consist of a group of teenagers (actors) filming themselves doing something unpleasant to another teen. The videos are called things like “Tom gets owned in the balls!!” and “BeN MuNChes On iT!!”, whatever that means. But there’s a twist: what at first seems like a particularly low rated video on the failblog voting page, albeit with terrible acting, turns into something with real emotional resonance.

After the hilarious prank has been played, the victim in the video talks directly to the camera and says, “You know what? Laugh at it and you’re part of it.” That is, if you make it that far. I’m sure most people have already moved onto more hilarious, ball-crushing videos by the time he turns to the camera.

The video has obviously been designed by people who really understand young people. People who know the lingo – owned, balls, LOL, fanny etc. These people really want to make a difference and they’re not afraid to put minimal effort into doing it, which, when you think about it, is what young people are all about, innit?

I think all internet videos should end with someone addressing the camera and saying, “You know what? Laugh at it and you’re part of it.” One man one jar, chocolate rain, those awful Fred videos etc.

But seriously, think about the actor who gets hit in the balls in this video. Think of all the testicular trauma this boy suffered just from appearing in the video. Think about his acting career. Now, is that funny? Find that funny, do ya! Do ya!?
